Deomali Hill Odisha’s Highest Mountain Range
We have read a lot about the Eastern Ghats of India in school books, but when I got a chance to visit this place, I realized that it is a beautiful hilly area as it was in the books. So, in this Eastern Ghats, we have a wonderful hill station named Deomali Hill, which is the highest mountain range of Odisha State, which is situated at a height of 1,672 m (5,486 ft) above the sea coast, so let’s discuss on Deomali Hill station and my touring experience.
Deomali Hill Koraput Odisha, Best Destination for Hill Station Lovers
Koraput district of Odisha is known as Kashmir of Odisha because you will see the natural scenic beauty and only mountains around. Also, the temperature of this place is colder than that of other cities of Odisha. So friends, amidst these hills of Koraput, there is Deomali Hill, which is known as the Switzerland of Koraput because when you go to Deomali Hill, you can feel 3-4 degrees less temperature than Koraput City.
Things to do in Deomali Hill Odisha
- If you like trekking then Deomali is the best destination for you. Here you can go to the zero point of Deomali Hill from where you can see the view of Andhra Pradesh on one side and Odisha on the other and friends, if you like to see the clouds closely then do not miss this destination because early morning you can get a wonderful view at this place.
- If you want to do night camping on Deomali Hill then you can do it, you will get the facility of night camping at this place and you can see the sunrise view.
- If you like adventure tours, then Deomali is the best destination for you where you can parasailing and at a very low price, its ticket cost is around Rs 500.
How to reach Deomali Hill, Odisha?
- Deomali Hill is located at a distance of 60.6 km from Koraput City, so first you will have to reach Koraput Junction Railway Station by train that gets from every major city of Odisha like Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur, Rayagada, Rourkela, Titlagarh, later you can reach Deomali Hill through NH 26 and for which it would be better for you to book a cab from Koraput because NH 26 is a complete ghat road so you can go to safely, and another option is book hourly car or two-wheeler from tour operators then visit there drive through own.
- Above option is the easiest way to reach Deomali but you also visit by own car via NH 326 and NH 26 ,and don’t worry about the road because Odisha all road infrastructure are very good. NH 326 is well connected to Berhampur city and Rayagada which makes your driving route easy if you come from Bhubaneswar or Kolkata through your car.
- If you want to come from Visakhapatnam then use NH26 which is directly connected to Deomali and Koraput City.
- Bus option is also available from Bhubaneswar to reach Koraput bus stand then you can visit Deomali Hill.
- Nearest Airport is Jeypore but flights currently do not operate , so you need to first reach Bhubaneswar Airport or Visakhapatnam Airport then you can reach Korput through train or reach directly through booking a cab.
Best Time to Visit Deomali Hill Koraput
People usually visit Deomali Hill in the winter season October to November and I also recommend it because this time the weather is awesome but the Rainy season is also good for those who like waterfalls or clouds.
Deomali Hill Koraput Odisha Timings
Thus, Deomali Hill Station is open 24 hours a day, but the time to reach the top of Deomali Hill is 7 am in the morning and you will have to reach by 5 pm in the evening because the view from the hilltop is very good in the morning or evening.
Where to stay in Deomali?
- If you go to visit Deomali Hill, then the best option is to stay in its nearby town Similiguda because at this place you will get good options of hotels and the distance is about 39 km and you will get a good option of tour operators.
- The second option is that near Deomali you will get the option of good cottages where you can book your stay online in advance.
Tour Experience at Deomali Hill Koraput
We did the Deomali Tour with our Koraput 3 Days Tour Itinerary, then according to our Itinerary, Deomali was to go on the second day and the first day was to go to the Gupteshwar Temple and Duduma Waterfall, so both of them were close to the place Jeypore city and our cab owner was from the same place and we took all the places at low cost, so we stayed in Jeypore which is a good place to stay and its city is in Koraput district.
Before going to Deomali, we visited Koraput's famous waterfall Raniduduma. After lunch, we reached Deomali at 4pm and I found this place amazing in my first experience.The hill views all around and the cool climate were very captivating and I really felt that I had come to the valley of Kashmir, hence the people call this place Kashmir of Odisha.
