Gupteswar Temple Koraput's History is related to the Ramayana period, it is believed that when Shri Ram stayed in Dandakaranya Forest Range during his Vanvaas, he discovered a cave in which Shri Ram ji saw the amazing Shiva Linga, then years it was re-discovered by Maharaja Veer Vikram Dev during his reign in the holy month of Shravan and since then the size of Shiv Linga has increased up to 2 meters till now, which is sitting in huge size and this is its speciality. This is why photography is not allowed with Shiva Linga in the cave.

You can reach this place easily because this place has very good road connectivity with Jeypore and Koraput, two major towns of South Odisha, due to which you can reach this place by driving your car or booking a cab and if you want to come by train. If you want, Jeypore Railway Station and Koraput Junction Railway Station are nearby and both the railway stations are well connected to major cities of India like Kolkata, Vishwapatnam, Bhubaneswar, so if you come by train, then you will get I recommend that you book a cab in advance so that it will be easier for you.

In my opinion, the winter season is the best time of the month between October to February because this time the weather is awesome and low crowded. You can visit during the Maha Shivaratri festival or Sharvan time but at that time, the more crowded you will get, so now you decide.

My Experience at Gupteswar temple Odisha

My first experience was in this place where there was no mobile tower yet but I was fascinated by the beauty of this place, after that the darshan of Shiv Linga and the worship by Pandit ji was a lifetime experience for me.I then visited the Sabari River flowing nearby, where I saw a river that forms the border line of two states and after this I visited the Tribal Market where I picture of Gupteshwar Mahadev for my home and later for lunch at NANI restaurant and had a great experience eating food.
