Goa its not just a name it's the hub of a natural tourist destination and this time I picked one destination to visit from this bucket and it's one the famous destination , and its dream destination for me and I think its dream destination for you also. This destination name is Dudhsagar waterfall and in this blog I will share everythings about this place. Let’s start

About Dudhsagar Waterfall

Dudhsagar name means ‘sea of milk’, then now you think why is this name given this waterfall because during the monsoon season it looks like milk. Dudhsagar waterfall is situated between the dense forest of Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park, and it’s generated from Mandovi River. This Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park is covered south Goa and north Karnataka and Dudhsagar waterfall is located between these railway stations that are Goa’s Kulem & Karnataka’s Castle rock, and rail route also known as braganza ghat.

Dudhsagar waterfall height has two concepts as per my research wikipedia show the 310 m and Government Of Goa show the 600 m  , now you decide which is wrong and right.

How to reach Dudhsagar Waterfalls Goa?

Dudhsagar waterfall is situated on Braganza ghat that is known as one of the dangerous ghats in India and here you can easily reach these four options.

Option 1: Reach Dudhsagar waterfall by train

Dudhsagar waterfall is easily accessible from Goa’s Madgaon junction railway station and I also visited there using this option. One route goes from Madgaon railway station to Karnataka’s Castle rock railway station ,and Dudhsagar waterfall situated between this route. You can see the mighty Dudhsagar waterfall during the train journey between Kulem to Castle rock railway station, and this route also known as Braganza ghat.

Option 2: Reach Dudhsagar waterfall by Tracking

This is not advisable and I am not recommending you because this tracking needs parallel walking with railway lines and also Indian railways banned this. But some trackers also do the tracking at their own risk ,so if you want tracking then do it at your own risk. This tracking starts from Kulem railway station and ends at Dudhsagar railway station.

Option 3: Reach Dudhsagar waterfall by forest Jeep Safari

For those who prefer a more comfortable and convenient option, a jeep safari is available from Kulem. The jeep safaris are managed by the forest department and take visitors through the dense forests and rugged terrain of the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. This route also involves crossing several streams, adding to the adventure.

  • Jeep rides can accommodate up to 6 to 7 people.
  • The safari usually takes about an hour and a half to reach the base of the falls.
  • The jeep safari costs around INR 500 to 600 per person.

After reaching the base, you’ll need to walk for around 1 kilometer to reach the waterfall. The jeep safari is ideal for families and those who wish to avoid the physical strain of trekking.

Option 4: Reach Dudhsagar waterfall by Self-Drive or Taxi

If you’re traveling by road, you can drive to Kulem or Castle Rock and then take a jeep safari or trek to the falls. The road to Kulem is well-maintained, and the journey itself is quite scenic, taking you through the lush Western Ghats.

  • From Panaji (Goa): The distance from Panaji to Kulem is approximately 60 kilometers, and it takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to reach by road.
  • From Belgaum (Karnataka):The distance from Belgaum to Castle Rock is around 90 kilometers, and the drive takes about 2 to 2.5 hours.

If you’re not comfortable driving yourself, hiring a taxi from Panaji or nearby cities is a convenient option. The taxi can take you to Kulem or Castle Rock, where you can proceed to the falls.
