List of Best Places to Visit in Kolkata City

Victoria Memorial

Victoria Memorial Kolkata

The Victoria Memorial is a must- see magnet in Kolkata, India. It was constructed in honor of Queen Victoria and opened to the public in 1921. The memorial's design was created by William Emerson, a notorious architect who also served as the President of the British Institute of Architects at the time.

As you approach the memorial, you are saluted by the sight of strictly maintained lawns and alluring gardens that stretch as far as the eye can see. These gardens, hypercritically designed by Lord Redesdale and David Prain, are a sanctuary of tranquility amidst the bustling megacity.

The centerpiece of the Victoria Memorial is a majestic museum structure that's nothing short of admiration- inspiring. Its white marble façade gleams in the sun, casting a mesmerizing reflection on the girding pools. These two large pools not only enhance the beauty of the place but also serve as a glass to the majesty of the memorial itself.

Stepping outside, you are transported back in time to the days of the British Raj. The gallery's halls are adorned with exquisite art, literal vestiges, and regal pictures. Each exhibition tells a story of India's rich history, and every corner resonates with the majesty of the history.

As you explore the Victoria Memorial, you will find yourself enchanted by its beauty, charmed by its history, and overwhelmed by a sense of reverence for the period it represents. It's a place where time seems to stand still, inviting you to embrace the majesty of India's history and appreciate the art of its generators.

As per my tour experience, It’s my first time visiting Victoria Memorial in my life and it's one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in India, and it's the stylish place for photography in Kolkata megacity.
